We help you to

communicate!

communicate!

We communicate with and for each other as a matter of course in our everyday lives, in our leisure time, and at work. This allows us to convey our emotions, wishes, fears, or even worries. But what if we can no longer do so due to unforeseen circumstances and an impairment in cognitive perception? We could try using facial expressions, gestures, and sounds, but this will not satisfy our basic need to communicate. !!! This is exactly where augmentative and alternative communication comes in.

Communication aids are designed to help people who are hindered in achieving their basic needs due to their current level of active verbal communication.

This is precisely our area of expertise.

Armed with our experience and a wide selection of communication devices, we can meet with you to test out which equipment suits you and your needs—so that communication with and for others can be part of your everyday life again.

What is our approach?

During personal testing with you, we like to get to know you better as a person in your environment and establish your wants and needs. Why is that important to us? Because we want to give you the best possible support and provide you with the most useful aid in your situation.

Some of the questions we look to answer with you include: !!!

  • Where do you want to use your device?
  • Should the device be as large as possible, taking the size of your home into consideration, and be easy to use at a distance?
  • Should the device be lightweight and portable?
  • What is your current level of motor function? Do you find it easy to hold a device and can you operate it using your fingers?
  • Might an alternative accessibility aid be required in the future, such as an eye tracker or head mouse?
  • How might your illness progress? Will it be necessary to adapt the present communication aid?

These questions clearly illustrate that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to communication aids. That’s why we at DSM want and need to get to know you better—and we’re very much looking forward to it!

We work with you and, of course, your family and therapists, to find the right communication aid. Even once you are happily using your aid, we are still on hand along with your healthcare provider to address any questions or problems you may have—you can rely on us.

Here at DSM, we stake our reputation on this promise.

Why are there so many different devices?

Simply put: because every customer needs their very own solution.
